Development of recyclable materials in analytical research infrastructures.
A radical shift towards the circular economy is urgently needed to meet the challenge of finite resources dwindling at a frightening rate while the amount of waste increases at an alarming rate. The European Commission (EC) Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP) adopted in March 2020 has identified seven key product value chains that need to rapidly become circular, given their environmental impacts and circularity potentials.
This requires substantial research on materials with a very high recyclability and showing competitive functionalities. At ReMade@ARI, Europe’s leading analytical research infrastructures join forces to pioneer a materials research support center that facilitates a step change towards the circular economy. ReMade@ARI offers coordinated access to more than 50 European analytical research infrastructures, which comprise the majority of the facilities that make up the network of Analytical Research Infrastructures in Europe (ARIE).
ReMade@ARI offers comprehensive services to suit any research focused on the development of new materials for the circular economy in the key areas highlighted in the CEAP and plays an important role in the preparation of the common technology roadmap for circular industries. Senior scientists, facilities experts and highly-trained young researchers bring scientific insights and extensive support to deliver user service of unparalleled quality, making every promising idea a success. Special attention is paid to the implementation of attractive formats to support industry researchers and developers.
The extensive catalog of services is complemented by an extensive training program. Communication and dissemination activities are supported by ongoing impact evaluation, which also enables evidence-based decision-making in the context of proposal selection. Routes towards sustainability of the platform will be explored towards the end of the project.
