This initiative aligns both with the framework defined by the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+i) of the CLPU and with the Center’s communication strategy and the objectives of the call itself: we focus on the general dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge while also promoting the communication of research results, whether generated by our own team or by our users. As a Unique Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS), we define ourselves not only as a research center, but also as a user facility. These are two clear lines of action that have shaped, from the very beginning, our dissemination strategy: to give back to society —in the form of information and knowledge— what it provides to us, always aware of the social responsibility we bear as a public consortium.
This scientific-technological outreach is aimed at various target audiences: the general public, to whom we wish to provide a foundation for understanding complex contemporary phenomena and developing tools that foster critical thinking; pre-university students, to promote scientific vocations free of gender bias; groups with limited access to scientific and technological fields, to make our motto “Science for everyone” a reality; and individuals with different disabilities, for whom we adapt many of our workshops so that science creates magic — and magic becomes science. In addition to these two main axes, the UCC+i also seeks to strengthen researchers’ communication skills, recognizing that the responsibility of making their science understandable to diverse audiences ultimately falls to them.
