Workstations, spaces for innovation
Microprocessing
The CLPU provides a cutting edge laser-matter interaction technology that includes three specialised rooms:
High precission processing: a space thought for photonic devices microfabrication and nanostructuring.
General purpose microprocessing – Trepaning: designed for micromachining (cutting, drilling); large scale machining (> 100 μm) and control of conicity; large samples and complex geometries and biological samples.
Laser ablation applications: laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), shadowgraphy and laser cleaning, among others.
X-Ray
The Centro de Láseres Pulsados has designed a workstation focused on X-Ray generation to analyse the interaction between ultra-intense pulse lasers and solid targets. This workstation offers to users, among other experiments, a way to work with a kHz electron ultra-fast source.
Innovation and Technology
Mechatronics
The Centro de Láseres Pulsados has a mechanic and electronic workshop tailored for industry and academic innovation. It has, among other tools, a vertical continuous-five-axes-milling machine that can produce pieces of high complexity and different material, from opto-mechanical mounts to customized prototypes.
Oscillators Unit
The CLPU commitments to be in and contribute to the state-of-the-art of laser technologies. That is why the Centre provides to all users the support unit of oscillators: design and creation of tailored oscillators adapted to all needs.
Microscopy
The CLPU provides cutting edge instrumentation in imaging to support the groundbreaking development of science in academic and industrial fields. It has three diferent microscopes: an atomic force, an electronic scanning and one optical.
Light sources…
The Centro de Láseres Pulsados has three different laser systems; each one designed with its own characteristics to develop the main fields of laser science and technology:
– The laser system VEGA, is the most powerful laser system in Spain and one of the ten more powerful system in the world. It is a versatile equipment with three beams: 20 TW-Class, 200-TW Class and 1 PW peak power. Vega turns the Centre in an ultra-high power facility with ultra-fast laser technologies that can be used in a broad range of applications.
– HRR, a High Repetition Rate laser system with a pulse energy of 7 mJ in 20 fs pulses, available for industrial and academic usage on a flexible basis. It is the laser beam used for the workstations of microprocessing and X-ray generation.
– A CEP (Carrier-Envelope Phase) stabilised laser system, a new state-of-the-art CEP system to develop knowledge innovation. It achieves different applications in femto-chemistry, ultra-fast photonics (IR) or streking, pump & probe, molecular dynamics or High Harmonic Generation with the Secondary Beam (XUV). It is set in its own laboratory where could be designed several workstations adapted to users.
