Advanced Course of Fundaments on Laser-Plasma Physics
18 – 30 September 2017 (F4 Room – Science Building)
Laser-driven plasma is the primary subject of investigation in the modern High power laser-facilities distributed all over the European community. The Centro de Láseres Pulsados (CLPU) is one of the most representative facilities in this area and at the moment is operating a 200 TW system and finalizing the implementation of 1 PW system. Both the systems work at 1-10 Hz.
The relevant presence of the Spanish Center for Pulsed Lasers –CLPU– and the approaching of the first experimental campaign is emerging the necessity of more specific formation in plasma physics and more in laser-plasma physics. This is the course schedule (every day from 16:00 to 19:00):
Monday | 18/09/2017 | Introduction to Plasma State (Prof. Luca Volpe) |
Tuesday | 19/09/2017 | Phenomenology of Laser-Plasma physics (Prof. Luca Volpe) |
Wednesday | 20/09/2017 | Plasma modeling (Prof. Luca Volpe) |
Thursday | 21/09/2017 | Plasma waves (Prof. Luca Volpe) |
Friday | 22/09/2017 | EM Propagation in Plasma (Prof. Luca Volpe) |
Monday | 25/09/2017 | Parametric instabilities (Prof. Luca Volpe) |
Tuesday | 26/09/2017 | Laser-driven particle beams (Prof. Luca Volpe) |
Wednesday | 27/09/2017 | Laser-Plasma Experiments (Prof. Luca Volpe) |
Thursday | 28/09/2017 | Particle in cell simulation (Prof. Javier Honrubia) |
Friday | 29/09/2017 | Under-dense laser-plasma acceleration (Dr. Giancarlo Gatti) |
A fourth part devoted to practical training will be organised at the CLPU and it will consist on direct involvement into experimental campaign on the two operating systems VEGA-1 & VEGA-2.
