Ion diagnostics at CLPU

Laser-driven proton beams are becoming more and more important for applications in different fields of physics [1], chemistry, and materials science [2], as well as biology, medicine [3], and cultural heritage [4]. For this, spatial and energy characterization of the proton beams nowadays plays an important role in the potential use of such sources. The possibility of extending this technique to the High Repetition Rate (HRR) mode of operation is nowadays a challenge in the laser-plasma community, and several laboratories and research groups are working on this. In this presentation will be presented proton diagnostics used at the CLPU. The radiochromic film diagnostic able to recover the spatial distribution as a function of the proton energy, the Cr39 nuclear track detector for absolute measurement of ions number, the PIN photodiode detector measuring the Time of flight of charged particle to provide a direct measurement of the energy-resolve particle spectra and a scintillator detector recently design and developed at the CLPU for high repetition rate measurement of laser-driven proton acceleration [5].
