Diagnostics of laser-accelerated ions<\/strong><\/p>\n

The interaction of high energy and high-power laser pulses with matter generates a broad range of particle and electromagnetic radiation [1,2]. Among them, laser-accelerated ions may represent both an important purpose of the experiment – for potential use in several promising applications – and a significant diagnostic tool carrying information on the laser-matter interaction [3,4]. This seminar will explore the different diagnostic methodologies classically used for ion detection, and will describe their specific advantages and limitations. High sensitivity [4] and capability to operate at high repetition rates [3,4] are two features of great importance for experiments in both present and future high energy and high intensity laser plants.
