LASER-PLASMA PHYSICS AND EXPERIMENTAL METHODS [2020-2021]

LASER PLASMA PHYSICS AND EXPERIMENTAL METHODS@ USAL and CLPU from February 2021.
(2 ECTS credits granted)

  • Introduction

The Laser-Plasma Chair at USAL develops a laser-plasma physics investigation related to the CLPU experimental activity. Experiments are performed at CLPU and abroad in collaboration with internationally recognized scientific groups.

The Laser-Plasma chair at USAL form young scientist in the field of High Power Lasers plasmas and particle-radiation beams

Within this action, we present the 3rd course on laser-plasma processes dedicated to diagnostic techniques.

  • Course program

Laser-driven plasma is the primary subject of investigation in the modern High power laser-facilities.

Short pulse duration and tight focus are both important ingredients to confine energy to nowadays unreached enormous energy densities ~ 1019-22 Joules/cm2/second.

At such energy densities, particles are accelerated at ultra-relativistic velocities (g >1) and extreme states of matter can be easily generated (i.e Warm Dense Matter Te~ Tfermi, r~solid). Several fundamental and applied investigations are possible via laser-plasma processes opening a new exciting field of physics

The course Introduce students in the physics of laser-plasma interaction at high power level.

The course consist of three parts:

        1. Introduction to laser-plasma physics
        2. Introduction to Laser-Plasma experiments and related diagnostic techniques
        3. Experimental training at the Centro de Láseres Pulsados (CLPU)
