LASER PLASMA PHYSICS AND DIAGNOSTIC METHODS

@ USAL from 20 February 2019

 Presentation

The Laser-Plasma Chair at the University of Salamanca develop laser-plasma physics investigation related to the CLPU experimental activity. Experiments are perfomed in Salamanca and abroad in collaboration with international recognized scientific groups.

The Laser-Plasma chair form young scientists in the field of High Power Lasers plasmas and particle-radiation beams at the University of Salamanca by organising dedicated courses @ USAL and, in collaboration with CLPU, Ms and PhD students in Salamanca.

Within this action we present the 2nd course on laser-plasma processes dedicated to diagnostic techniques.

 Abstract

Plasmas generated by lasers are characterized by a relativelly short life-time from nanoseconds to picoseconds. Laser-matter interaction can be shorter if femtosecond lasers are used to generate plasma and physical events are also in this range. Plasma diagnostic techniques are continously developed to reduce time and spatial resolution as well to adapt to the High Repetition Rate mode of working.

The course intend to Introduce undergraduates and Master students to the physics of laser-plasma giving a first basic introduction to the theory of Plasma dynamic and laser-matter interaction at high power level as well as an introduction to the most used Plasma diagnostic techniques.

The course consist in three parts:

1. Principles of Laser-Plasmas Physics.

2. Introduction to diagnostic for laser-plasmas at HRR.

3. Experimental activity @ CLPU.

> Inscription of the courses are open until the 15th of February 2019, from this link

> 2 ECTS credits granted.

> The course schedule will be developed in agreement with students activities at USAL.
